Mazatlan Central and Shrimp Industry

Spring Time in the Rockies

I'll relate to you how we put this trip together. We had planned on taking a Caravan Bus Tour from Mt Rushmore - The Little Bighorn, Yellowstone, Tetons ending in Salt Lake City., with our two daughters, Robin Harder and Renee Hall along with Robin's husband Kyle.

We had made our deposits for the tour to begin late in September this year, but because of the Wuhan Virus Caravan Tours canceled all-of their 2021 tours and refunded our deposits.

Dottie and I had been to all of these locations previously, but not with our kids, and our trips had always in the summer when the NP were strained to capacity. It was then that the Kids started the conversation of lets just do the trip on our own.

On May 22nd Robin, Renee, Dottie and I began this driving venture. I put the literary together, an Renee took it from there making all the hotel, motel, AirBNB reservations. She had th hard part. The Guys were working so they were to join us for 4 days in Yellowstone, flying into Bozman, joining us at Gardiner, MT were we had a 4 bedroom Airbnb to take care of all of us.

5/27 To Yellow stone NP and mostly a drive through from the south gate to the north gate at Gardiner, MT

5/28 Kyle and Garrett, Robin's husband and son joined us that evening

5/29 We toured the souther loop of the park, about a 135 miles catching Old Faithful and Yellowstone Lake

5/30 WE toured the northern loop, and up the Lamar Valley to Goody, Mt

5/31 We stayed close to home as the fellows had to leave to fly home from Bozman. We had saved Mammoth Hot Springs for this day. After the fellow took off we went back to the Hot Spring near Old Faithful and back to the Yellowstone Hotel at Yellowstone lake

6/1 Fantastic day touring the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, and then on to the east park gate to Cody, WY There we toured the Buffalo Bill Museum

6/2 Probably our longest driving day as we headed north back in Montana to the Little Big Horn NM where General Custer made his last stance. Then on to the Black Hills of South Dakota to Spearfish and Sturges.

6/3 we spent in the old west of the Black Hill touring Spearfish, Deadwood, Sturges, and on to Rapid City and a later afternoon drive through Custer's State Park.

6/4 It was off to Mt Rushmore NP and then over to Crazyhorse monument. But the night was back to Mt Rushmore to enjoy the evening pageant.

6/5 It has come time to head down the hill toward home so we were off to Cheyenne and had a cup of coffee with our long time friends Larry and Connie Atwell whom we served together on the AED Board of Directors and night time found us in Ft Collins where our granddaughter Kylee is studying at Colorado State University

6/6 Kylee gave us a wonderful tour of Ft Collins and then it was to the Denver Airport where we left our traveling partners Robin and Renee to fly home. 16 days of schoffering us was all they could take and they need some refreshing love from their husbands. So Dottie and I spent the night with our close friends Art and Mary Anstine in Parker CO. Art and I have been best buddies since Junior High Shoo.

6/7 As the girls told me, trusting me to get Miss Dottie home, "Dad just get on I-25 and keep a truck'e till you come to Albuquerque, and that is just what we did.

As we have RV's across the US and Canada these last 25 years we have been humbled by the vastness of this world God has provided. We camped in every state in the contiental US and every Province in Canada and a coup;e of states in Mexico. Three time to Alaska, and I'd go again, except that Dottie is tired of watching the trees go by.
